Ashley Churchman - $20,000

After three months on the mission field Ashley writes, “God continues to show me that he can use the smallest gestures to make a big difference: a simple visit, an encouraging smile, or a heartfelt prayer. For example, when I met Valva over a year ago, I never foresaw how God would work in this elderly gentleman’s life. Valva’s excitement about developing a relationship with Christ has led to Reyes studying with his son and neighbor. Valva’s son recently expressed his need to change his lifestyle so he can unabashedly share the message of Christ with others. God continues to remove the veil from people’s eyes so they may see their vast need for Him. Furthermore, God has revealed to me more clearly now than ever that His word truly is alive and active.” Ashley is committed to serve the people of Colonia 89 for a year. Please pray that God continues to grant her wisdom and energy to serve.

Biodun Owolabi – Director of WNCC - $7,000

Biodun Owolabi is in his third year as the Director of West Nigeria Christian College. Biodun has a masters degree from the Harding Graduate School of Religion in Memphis, Tennessee. He is currently finishing his doctorate degree at a Nigerian university in Lagos, Nigeria.

Biodun is highly recommended to our missions committee by Jay and Ileta Beckloff of our congregation. Jay and Ileta also work with the college and have seen Biodun in action as a college administrator, classroom teacher, and as a minister of the gospel in Nigeria. Before joining the school staff in 1999, Biodun was a banker in the capital city of Lagos.

The college is directed by a governing board of trustees located in Nigeria and the African Christian Schools Foundation located in Nashville, Tennessee. Biodun reports to these organizations in his position with the college.

UKRAINE

Dnepropetrovsk Ukraine - $25,000

The Kirov church in Dnepropetrovsk was established in 1993. They are maturing as a self supporting church but are experiencing difficulties with how to progress into the next stage of their development. They are lacking strong Christian leadership that will promote unity, love, forgiveness, and Christian living. Despite these hardships the members continue to work with the Baby House, the Dawn Orphanage, and at another orphanages at Verkhnedneprovsk. New classes developed in the summer campaign will be in full swing in October. These classes will involve Bible lessons and English classes. Several students that attended the basketball camp and their coaches will be attending the classes. They are becoming more and more independent, but we feel they could use some additional mentoring. We are presently searching for a couple that could serve as mentors on a part time basis.
